Never met the man, but spoke to him a few times on here and always read what he had to say, he came accross as a intelligent and funny man. When I read the thread last night I didn't know what to say and as I am not a regular poster I didn't want to say anything but I felt a great deal of sadness at the loss of a great man and at least he will have the best seat in the house for the city games.

if i had a drink for every time he made me smile i'd need a stomach pumping pretty sharpish.

I went through a very rough time in my own existence a couple of years back. Just over a year ago I went up to stay with Benny for the weekend. I was still fragile. He saw to it that I was made to feel totally at home in his house, he gave his bed to me (and didn't even try to sneak in and join me - sadly) and he made sure that I felt relaxed and safe. I produced a montage image of Robinho and framed it and gave it to him when I went up there. Then we went to watch City v Stoke together and of course, Robinho proceeded to score a hatrick. That was one of the happiest weekends I ever spent and one that had seemed impossible a year before. Remembering how happy Benny was that weekend, particularly when Paddy leapt on a train and came to join us from London, is making me smile now. That is how I will always remember Benny. With a smile.

I'm going to stop by the garden of remembrance at Eastlands before Sunday's game. It seems right to remember Benny at the ground.
I'm not religious so I won't be saying a prayer, but I'll think about the posts that made me smile.

What a dreadful waste of an obviously brilliant mind.
As someone else said, it's odd to miss someone you've never met but strangely, that's the case.
I'm not a regular poster either but whenever I spoke of this forum to people and tried to describe the personalities of those here, I always mentioned Benny first. He epitomized all that was great about it. His intellect and humour were remarkable.
How very sad.

when i first signed up to the forum, Benny was furious about me claiming that i'm a wum. then he wanted me to pm him if i'm serious being a manc fan and when i did that he just said "ok, i believe you. welcome to the forum" and he never said anything bad about me then

I have never in all my years as a fan and regular city shirt buyer had a players or my own name on the back of my shirt...I am sure Benny would see the funny side of things if I got his name on the back of my shirt.....it may just happen on Sunday

Ive just got in from work...Going through the motions is a understatement ..

I just want to say. That part....A big part of the reason i became a regular on here was down to benny, and bastard too..
Instantly had a rapport and just a lot of stuff in common, and i felt welcome..

Through a bit of a tough time i had early in the year when two of my brothers were stabbed and one nearly dead, i spoke at length with benny and honestly felt he cared and it helped me more than i can say..

And then when he and bastard turned up at my 40th party in july..Legendary status was achieved, for both of them.

I get moaned at by my mrs for being on here too much, and i'd be " But love, im talking to benny..or im talking to bastard".

And she took it upon herself to get them secretly to my 40th, i had no idea...

But ill tell you all straight up, i felt so honoured that they were there..

I don't have many friends who felt i can be so open with, and accepted for the loon that i am...

I wish i could have said more, or done more, but i just hope your in a better place now mate....

I also remember recently, joking about myself and referring to a character from a certain episode of southpark..
Just how i sit here and talk to him about everything and anything..

And he instantly knew what episode i was talking about (make love not warcraft) and that he was properly laughing or giving him a boac...

And how he loved the forum, and that were all different but totally think the same daft stuff...
