Not actually many films where you can say the sequels have been better than the originals are there.

Jaws is brilliant. Still stands up. When it came out in 1976 most of the lads in my class went to see it for their First Holy Communion day out. Most of the class were only 7 years old!

Still stands up well today. If it was made today it would be ballsed up with silly CGI.

Usual Suspects is immense, as is Donnie Darko and any Tarantino only film. By Tarantino only, I'm discluding all the shit like Hostel. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and the Kill Bill pair are awesome films

Except the Matrix trilogy, in which it absolutely sucked!

a lot of my favourite movies are asian. i find the subtitles make the horror even more gripping in a way. there are many very good movies you are missing out on if you avoid subtitled films. such as "city of god" and "oldboy". rent them two and see if it changes your mind.
hollywood remakes are typically shite. i think largely to the producers changing them to make it more marketable and relevent to america and also a directors ego wanting to do it his own way. films like the ring and the grudge are nowhere near as good as their originals.

City of God is a great film and quite scarily accurate too, been meaning to watch it again for ages. Oldboy is good if not a tad bizarre.

Like quite a few people I'll be watching This is England soon too as its on my Sky+

Was it the feature film or the TV version?

Both are good. Alan Clarke was a great director. If you liked Scum, you should watch Made In Britain - Tim Roth's first film.

The film.

I fancy the man from Green Mile

Two of my favourite films.

Anyone every seen Road to Perdition? Didn't know what to expect when I started to watch it but it was thoroughly enjoyable.

For those who like Pulp Fiction, Sin City etc, watch Natural Born Killers, top film. Was banned on DVD, not sure that's the case now.
