If there's two of you going the chippy, it's nice to get one cheese and onion and one potato and meat, then get the chippy lady to cut them in half and give you half and half.

As I've previously stated I love a Wensleydale, particularly Wensleydale with cranberry. For jacket spuds a Boursin's very nice - gives a bit of flair in the middle. Good strong musky Cheddar is a solid utility player. Nice to have something with a continental style to mix things up a bit too - maybe bring a Roquefort off the bench.

Benny had a lovely blue-veined one last week at his flat. Can't remember the details though.

And here's me thinking I was the only one who eated it. It's the looks, you see. Like 'ewww you're not seroiusly goint to eat that are you? Curry? and cheese? Together? ewww'. *shudders*

Well that's the usual reaction anyway.

For my tea tonight I cooked big portobello mushrooms topped with sunblush tomatoes French goats cheese baked in the oven served with rocket and watercress salad dressed with herb infused olive oil and a bit of balsamic vinegar and some boiled jersey royals.

Edit: forgot the sunblush toms

This just isn't true. As a rule Gravy always wins, sometimes curry sauce is correct though. Many folk think I am mental for having gravy on Fish and Chips, but they are the ones missing out, it's tops.

Gravy on the chippy chips yes but not on the fish, makes the batter go soggy and nobody likes a mouthful of soggy batter.

It all gets a bit hazy after the Rohypnol kicks in.

For the record, it was a mature stilton or a shropshire blue. The shropshire blue was lovely actually, and from Aldi.

The Rohypnol was an online purchase...

I am a bit surprised by some of the responses to chippy related fodder. Chips, cheese pie and curry is far from wrong; fish, chips and gravy - quite correct.

The various merits of curry sauce vs gravy are the subject of healthy debate but the liberal use of either should be encouraged.

Well, fish and chips are one thing the English can do better than other nation. There are only two good chippers in Ireland.

Leo Burdocks near Christchurch Cathedral......

........and the Ritz Cafe in Dun Laoighaire.

Curry >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gravy

For all fish and chip shop related needs

Maybe not on a roast though

All these people who are saying chip shop curry is better than chip shop gravy are blatantly southerners.

Just been enjoying the remnants of the christmas cheese buying excesses. Can thoroughly recommend this refined Swedish chap:

Washed down with a fruity M&S port. :)

Digestive biscuits with Port Salut still to come, and I might just finish the Wexford.
