Now that is funny. I honestly had expected england to continue their recent dominance over aus but when we started getting on top I've started reading that the england entire batting side has been in some horrendous form slump for a good while. I did not realise this, I can see the point.

I don't understand how a M Johnson can have so much success when Anderson who is proven season on season quality did no where near as much damage. perhaps it was just the out and out pace that did that, or the gabba pitch that suited perfectly.

on to adelaide, an altogether slower more tactical ground and pitch. despite gatting, vaughan and a bunch of other commentators saying england were demolished, they can easy bounce back for a 1 -1.

Love cricket!

This first test has been traumatic for me because gabba is the nickname of one of the girls I fell arse over tit for in turkey and am still pining after like the pathetic piece if shit that I am. So roll on the next test, anywhere but at gabba.

well i know the aussies call it the gabbattior, and they did bleeding slaughter us good and proper.
And sledged trotty to the point he crumbled and went home...
I like clarke, but his broken arm threats seem a bit lame, when he looks like he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag..*

*that was a sledge by me btw.. :approve:

I think he meant more that he will give orders to M Johnson to break. You knew that right? Cos M Clarke is 5'7" and about 30 kilos.

This Trott thing has taken off here, 3 or 4 pages in this mornings paper and all very compassionate for him, S Harmiston wrote an article that he spent 10 years pretending to be homesick when actually it was mental illness he was covering. It seems few people escape mental illness at some point in life.

But yes on to Adelaide.

of course i did...im not that thick..(opens the door for bastard.)

Theres been a call to end the sledging on the radio today, or to tone it down..
Bollocks to that, its all part of the game, and where trotty is concerned i hope the lad gets help, as ive seen stuff like this with folks close to me, and not to mention the fact i have wrecked my own head..
So i feel bad for the lad and im sure out of the game the aussie lads with have a good word for him.
They related it to a test in the early 80's where us and the aussies got on quite well, and the press picked up on it, and the sledging ended up going overboard.
but jeez, taking the piss is how i grew up..
When in school as a kid, my dog died, and the next day my mates were drawing pictures of pies, with dog legs poking out..no mercy whatsoever..

bring it on i say..
and im looking forward to adelaide....F1 should be there for the record too..

oh talk sport do a book called 'why are you so fat'. and its just a book of the greatest sledges of all time..
i must have it..

why are you so fat.
Book Description
Publication Date: 1 Nov 2010 | Series: Talksport
When hefty Zimbabwean chicken farmer Eddo Brandes kept on playing and missing to an increasingly frustrated Glenn McGrath, the Australian had had enough and decided a bit of verbals were called for: 'Oi, Brandes, why the hell are you so fat?' Quick as a flash, the answer came back: 'Because every time I shag your missus, she gives me a biscuit.' Few games have such a rich history of sledging as cricket, with the Australians famed masters of the art. This collection, featuring contributions from talkSPORT's own Darren Gough and Ronnie Irani as well as many other cricket stars, brings together the best examples from around the world. To be effective, sometimes the sledge can be funny, as when Andrew Flintoff urged Tino Best, who was struggling to lay a bat on the ball, to 'mind the windows' at Lord's. Best immediately charged down the pitch to attack Ashley Giles' next ball and was stumped. But sometimes an element of real menace can do the trick, as when Malcolm Marshall commented to a struggling David Boon: 'Now are you going to get out or am I going to have to bowl round the wicket and kill you?'

just got it for £2.88 off fleabay

roots was tough one, but the other...my dog would have nailed that backwards..
Its pretty even after day 1, by lunch tonight, early morning as it is. we will know how its panning out, either we get a few quick ones or the aussie dig in and get 5 ton plus..

stupid other side of the planet time difference..

Haddin averages 122 at Adelaide apparently. If it was a Wednesday I'd have a few choice words for Carberry. Monty's one should've stuck too, but they rarely do with him. On the flip side Swann's catch was a 1 in 5 at best.

Hard to know what to make of that first day, I haven't got a clue what a good score is on that pitch.

Its a batters pitch for sure..
A draw here would not be a bad thing.
montys clean bowl was sweet.. but carbs would have kicked his own bollocks for that one..
And swannys was a gem..

We just need to get at them straight away, unsettle the rhythm, clarke and haddin could rack a great amount up , and siddle and johnson are a decent pair together..

Its a fine balance at the mo.

As they've all said, the first session today will decide this match, possibly the series.

Let's hope not..

Haven't seen Johnson's delivery yet. Sounds like it was a missile.

Twas a peach. Cook has done nowt with the bat this tour. We did dominate today but england, if game, can eke out a draw from this match, on a batters pitch. That is true. What I think will be insurmountable is a 2 - nil lead.

Home advantage plays such a part, I just did not think england would be this bad away from home.

Our away form is letting us down for sure.

You get off to a bad start in an Ashes series and it's very hard to recover, as Australia showed over here. It's going to be a similar case of damage limitation for England from here on in I think.

Those 3 dropped catches yesterday cost us 286 runs. Which is disappointing.

Just got up. And mitch has torn through us.
Lead of 530. This is a 2 nil lead. We're playing for pride.
I take my hat off to the aussies. They have got nasty with us and leathered us.
Shoes on other foot id be buzzing.

1-1. That's not recapping City's result earlier, that's England's 2nd innings so far. Cook must feel like doing a Jonathan Trott.

Besides Bell and maybe Root, and a perhaps from Prior today that was really poor. England looked intimidated, it was a lamentable display.

I hope they buck up for Perth, see some decent cricket from both teams. This turnaround from when it was in England last, you couldn't make it up.

We need a specialist batsman at number six, not a county level all rounder.

There were signs towards the end of the last series that all was not well. So many players chronically out of form though, it's staggering. Swann was supposed to be the best spinner in the world wasn't he?

He sure is/was, and Lyons who who really is avgas, has upstaged him. Do not know how. It may honestly just be a confidence thing. All spinners may be dropped for the WACA too, fast pitch. Not what it used to be but it is fast. Which we like.

Tell you what, of everyone, Cook is desperate for a score. Sheesh. As is Carberry, had a 60+ but dropped catches and whatevs, time to buck up everywhere england.
