Bit of a rant time.

Job came to an end at the end of July, now on this Universal credit malarkey whilst doing a bit of voluntary down the road.

Anyway, had an appointment with National careers service Monday and went alright, did my CV good and proper and i was happy with it. She said she'd email it over to me but had to encrypt the file, showed us how to decrypt it and i'm fine with that, i'm quite tech savvy.

Can i open it, can i Fuckery!!! Think she used Microsoft word but i don't have that and i don't know if that's why i can't open it, I downloaded 2 programs similar to Word but it wont recognise the password even though it is correct.

I've emailed it over to a mate and asked if they could do it but they're having similar problems. What gets me though is the file will open on my iphone but that's no good.

Is there away around this???

My wife, who has MS, applied for universal credit but was turned down because her husband, me, has a pension.
On the 18th of each month they send me, who has not applied for UC, a note to say she can’t have any universal credit.

I have been unable to post as much as I would like but my time is taken up with carer duties
I had amoment or two the other day to reminisce upon my life.
Got a good job leading to a decent pension. Married a much younger woman to keep me young etc. Looked forward to a decent retirement, drinking decent whiskey and smoking good cigars.
MS struck her and now I spend my time pushing a wheelchair.
Shit

That is fucking rough Bert, but however hard it is you have to hold on to the before MS memories that's the bank of stuff to cherish and that will get you through. It is cruel and unfair, but without you in her life it could be much worse. I hope you're in touch with all the relevant social services, charities and support networks, because they can be phenomenal.

On a practical level, for the UC thing, how old is your wife? I can't fathom why she wouldn't be entitled to PIP. You should get attendance or carer's allowance as well, as far as i recall they're not means tested.

Thanks GA
We get lots of help from carers, physio, Occupational Therapyetc
. Our GP is wonderful and has done more for my wife in 6 months than the consultant in 2 years and I have to say that the local council have been excellent with the services they provide.
My wife does get PIP although it took over 2 years for them to kindly allow it.
As you say there are charities etc that also provide wonderful services.
The major problem has been the lack of treatment and care at a so called centre of excellence. Despite a deterioration in her condition evident to all and sundry they said she did not fit the criteria for MRI and disease modifying drugs.
We have now moved to a different hospital and neurologist who has already had her MRI and is planning a course of treatment.
Needless to say my letter writing skills have been employed and I was told that they would investigate and reply within 45 working days. We are now over 50 days and my pen is poised to be dipped in vitriol and sarcasm.
As to remembering the pre MS days it makes me sad.

The vision of that crash looks fake, quite incredible. Amazing she survived.

So hot, BTW.
