Thats gone to far and become inverted imo. White middle class is the new black in terms of equality.

no, they are not meant to beat darkies anymore and joining a party that espouses, basically, doing so is in contravention of it. fuck all to do with liberalism, or reading whatever paper... oh yes, of course. daily mail. the paper that brings you racial hatred, the mmr crisis, and news the other day that social networking damages childrens brains. and then backs it up with anecdotal evidence from a teacher. a truly remarkable truthsaying upstanding paper indeed.
are you actually serious? how many times have you been stopped by police and had your pockets emptied? or been pulled over for driving whilst black? or gotten a heavier sentence for being black? i know a couple of lads who get this shit, and their white friends get lesser sentences for, in the last example, flogging larger quantities of more variety of drugs. white middle class is the new black. fuck me, the ignorance in that statement. poor victims we are indeed.
we get fucked over in terms of level of taxation, and generally by being sandwiched in the not rich enough to have no worry, not poor enough to get state help bracket, but in terms of equality... i'd laugh. i really would. but i think you're actually serious.

and he may make watchable tv, but people said that about jade goody. neither of whom would make it onto the last lifeboat.

Nationalisation will never work. The public sector in my experience is a bloated, inefficient disgrace. We tried nationalised industries before, and look where it got them - poor productivity, a wretched quality motor industry, and factory floors run by communist shop stewards with a political agenda. We may not have seen a true socialist government, but we've seen the fruits of nationalisation. I certainly never want to see it again. Brown's trying though - you could see the closet socialist in his eyes when he was taking over the banks.

As for comparing Portillo to Jade Goody, that's just plain dumb. Really fucking stupid uninformed thing to say. How many TV shows has Jade Goody made that can genuinely enrich your knowledge of modern politics from a bipartisan standpoint? You've let yourself down there Gibbo.

It was the best TV I've seen from a learning point of view, and interest for some time. The opposite of dumbing down, I wish there were far more of these TV shows available.

Gibbi, what i meant was in relation to the police force, do you think we could have a white police club like they do? no. Do you think a white officer would get a 600k payout for not getting promoted (allegedally) because of race but in fact due to his incompetance and suspected corruption? no.
On the subject of socialism, this government has been using money from the (safe tory seats) southern areas and redistributing it to labour areas or marginals, and has bloated the public sector in the hope they will all vote labour. Some areas have a higher percentage of people working for the state than soviet russia did. The facts don't lie. And i was only half serious in my last post, you bleeding hearts get offended too easily:rolleyes:

i only compared it in that someone called it watchable tv. i didn't see it so can't even comment on what it was about. may have to look for repeats.
my point was, watchable or not, portillo would not have a place on the last life boat. nor would jade goody. that was all.
of course portillo makes more intelligent viewing. christ, a boiled egg spinning round in a microwave makes more intelligent viewing than goody, and there is no doubt portillo is an intelligent man. a twat as well of course, but hey.

it was far from clear you were limiting the focus of the statement so specifically.
the point of not having a white police club is because that is the entire force anyway, by default. that's why they have the minority groups. the default position is white.
on the subject of government using money from conservative areas... generally they are the richer areas, no? as in less deprived, more employment, less need? to areas that need more spending? some areas have the major employer as the government, so what, like blackpool, the DWP main site for, as far as i know, the UK. blackpool, that fairly staunchly conservative area.
it's a point i don't quite see the point of. and the "facts" appear to be far from that, lacking as they are in any substantiated detail.
and it's not a bleeding heart. half serious or not it's an idiotic standpoint.
edited for spazzy typing

All figures were from the office of statistics i think.
For unsubstantiated scaremongering read the guardian or watch bbc news ala "climate change":D

I didn't see anyone call it "watchable". I saw words like "informative" and "insightful". Even slart, the worst pinko on here had to give the man his dues.

I really don't think Portillo's a twat. I never liked him when he was in office, but the Portillo we see today is a real savvy political commentator. He's also probably more withering about his time in the commons than you are btw.

It's well worth looking out for, its also well worth catching him on This Week with Diane Abbot. That's a really good show.

Littlejohn's a funny man. A legendary wind-up merchant guaranteed to get certain sections of the political left gnashing their teeth.

I always like what Frederick Forsyth has to say - he's one of the great centre-right thinkers of our time.

i don't go quoting any of it as truth though, which due to bias in any papers is a very shaky position. statistics, unless quoted in pure data form or analysed without agenda, are easily warped though either willful or accidental misinterpretation. see "mmr scandal".

is that possible? i probably am guilty of judging him solely on that, granted.

yup, noted that, but doesn't i-player still install other shite on computer? trying to keep it as clean as possible after spending a week restoring it to factory settings and then updating everything from the past 2 years. no veetle, no tvants, no clogging it up with any non-essential programmes, just for browsing and gaming...

No, it doesn't install owt, just plays happily in your browser window.

Browsing, gaming and porn surely?

i'd say that comes under browsing really, a default "why do you have the internet" kind of feature.
it runs in browser? no install? sure there was some kind of furore about some advertising thing it installed, or did i imagine that...

Benny's wrong here - it is an install. I had a real issue with that and 4OD where I couldn't stop them starting on boot-up. They're both fairly resource-heavy so it added to your boot-up time significantly. I've uninstalled them both.

Keep an eye on BBC4, it'll be on that soon enough.

Just watched this. Very good. Most of it I knew already. But it's good to hear it from the mouths from the people involved. What is it with tories and bad hair?
