Are Scallions the same as Spring Onions??

Went round our local shops yesterday but couldn't find anything called scallions, though they look similar to Spring onions.

In answer to your question, yes they're the same thing, scallions are what the yanks call them. What're you cooking?

I'd actually forgotten.

May have been Carribean chicken, or something Chicken based.

:naughty: the yanks actually call them green onions. They're also known as Welsh onions..
As a kid I worked for a farmer who grew them and we always called them scallions...
though further north of us they were known as scullions!!??!!

United States: Known as "scallion" or "green onion". The term "green onion" is also used in reference to immature specimens of the ordinary onion (Allium cepa) harvested in the spring, and the term "spring onion" refers exclusively to this onion in the United States.

Made us a banging curry last night;
Chicken saag
Tarka dal with mung and toovar dals
Kachumber salad
Coriander raita

All from scratch served with rice and chappatis

The lentils were the star tbf, I fucking love dals me :)

My amuse bouche were a few holstens and a can of K.
