couple of useful ones i have for my android phone (no ipad but guess some are the same) are wi-fi analyser (great when trying to work out if people's connections are down, what wi-fi hotspots are available etc), guardian and footyfocus apps for news n footy stuff (the latter collects all city related news), plants vs zombies is meant to be a good game... can you get DC comics?

Yes you can get Dc comics, not my cup of tea mind.

cant find footy or football focus? maybe its IP locked.

Another vote for flight control, mrs MM has it on hers. I will also plug a mate's game, Hexius - its an arcade puzzle type game. One of those easy to learn bastard to master types.
If you have kids of a suitable age there is some In the Night Garden type stuff on there that my nipper goes mad for.

it's like a pond, with fish, and they respond to the cat pawing at them.

my sister has two of those things (ipads) which are almost exclusively used by her 6 and 8 year old. she got them for "business" use.

What, she lets the cat play with it? Isnt it scratched to death?

My 4 year old loves it and we hide it so she doesnt play with it too much, she is so technically advanced with everything though and its really scary!

i must admit i was never a big fan of tablets/pads and thought they were a ginick like netbooks, however the more I use it the more im sucked in by it. It breaks rules that apply on PC, like now im listening to Radio 1, which is normally IP locked through an app!

i'd hope she has a scratch resistant sheet on it, lord alone knows if she does or not. but yeah, she does let the cat play with it, and the sticky fingered kids.

That's grim! I find it hard to take more than a couple of mins these days, really does my head in.
My lad has just turned 2 and loved the ipad games - he finds them a bit easy now (due to excessive practise) and is also getting a bit bored of the program itself (hopefully I am not just kidding myself).

I know what you mean. I cant help feel that Makka Pakka is some sort of sexual deviant though! sponging the others down...ect.

We get to rotate through, this, Peppa Pig, Spot, Wheels on the Bus, little princess and the sound of Music.

i'l be attempting to bring the boy up on whatever i'm watching, no matter how inappropriate. old tom and jerry (i know you can still buy that stuff) bagpuss, magic roundabout, any old kids stuff that i wouldn't actually mind watching. perhaps akira and other manga as well.
