Never had you down as a Tory cunt SEC ... Suprised tbh.

Quite. Could've been worse, at least ukip actually lost an mp, and looks like farage will resign as well as milliband.

Tory majority. Oh fuck. Not even a coalition to temper their fuckery.

Don't count your chickens. Farage's deputy is actually much better than him. #salmond/sturgeon

that's a bit chicken and egg isn't it? they weren't there to use then perhaps it's because they weren't needed to the same degree. maybe people were able to get credit easier and on better terms to deal with short term financial fuckery.

There's always been a fuckton of food poverty. These days because of food banks people are better able to get help though, which is part of what Cameron was preaching last time round about the "Big Society".

I'm just not buying the line that the country is in a worse place because people can/do use food banks now. Obvs it's not something to celebrate, but by the same token it's not a stick to beat ourselves with.

Also, under Labour, Job Centres were banned from issuing food vouchers to people waiting for benefit payments. IDS reversed that and the numbers of foodbanks and people using them have soared since. Nasty fucking conservatives right?

Anyway...

FTR I'm not some Tory boy, the only time I ever voted was for labour in 2001. I would've voted for the conservatives last night if there was any need (the Tory candidate won by over 23000 votes) for the same reason I voted for labour in 2001 - I thought the incumbents were doing a decent enough job and the opposition were unelectable fuckwits. I was brought up by a single mother on a waitress's wage - our idea of a holiday was going to an average hotel on the coast for the weekend once every two years. I don't feel any guilt about not voting for some North London Oxford-educated gimp who probably spent more time mincing round south of France than the UK in his formative years.

Where to Noddy?

Nepal could really use your skills. How about five years out there?

I don't know what all the fuss is about
People knew the rules about first past the post before it started
That's the way it has been since even before my grandad was born.it is nothing new . People will just have to put up with it.
All these people who say they are emigrating can go they will struggle to find much better elsewhere. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

The grass probably isn't even green at all anymore in Nepal Bert - I bet it's fucked! :p

The drama queenery over the last few days has been  though. It barely makes any difference who's in power:
  • 99% of our legislation will stay the same
  • there will be some minor changes in spending etc that will take three or four years to have any effect, if it even does have any effect at all
  • and then in 5 years time if it looks like it's fucking up the other lot will get in, change the 1% of legislation to something else, swap the spending back round and start fucking things up in the other direction

In summary: people whinging :violin:

Imagine trying to form a government with any of the alternatives to the first passed the post system. You'd have months of wrangling then end up with a smorgasbord of a government who couldn't pass wind in parliament yet alone any legislation.

Plus the map's always got loads more blue than red in it, there's nothing new in that.
