Ok clever boys
I have an IPad air one and a LG smart TV wit USB input sockets
When I plug the iPad into the TV via said usb socket I can identify the iPad on the input list on the TV. When I go on to it I get a picture of the Upper file which I click on to get a store feed file . This gives me nothing.
Why can't I watch my iPad stuff on the big screen?
Your input will be appreciated as usual

The fact it's s smart TV means you shouldn't need a cable - it should send the file wirelessly. There should be a media streaming function on the TV. *can of worms opened*

Are you sure Bert? I'm sure there must be some streaming software around to do the job:

my doris has a i fone 5 c, when i set it up for her, it was the most frustrating experience ive ever had with a phone.
It took me ages and im reasonably knowledgeable in such matters..
shes never got any signal either..

ive been with samsung for my last 3 phones, put a micro card 16 gig in my galaxy 3 now, and have a ton of tunes, and paid up for power amp.
its all i need..

im sure a i pad is a brilliant tablet, but i would feel restricted with apple only, as opposed to the play store and all the apps..

anyone with a smart phone, should get a app called mobdro, watch any footie match .all sky channels/bt sport and so on..its brilliant..

and shobox..lets you make a library of films and tv shows..

Its worth having android just for them.

Yeah, sorry Bert - they call it a walled garden for a reason. You pay heavy to get one and they lock you in with all this proprietary bullshit.

There'll be workarounds - you can get programs that will turn most (if not all) formats into something else, something like http://filehippo.com/download_format_factory. However, you'd need access to the source video file (I don't have an apple product to see how easy that is) and then you'd need to convert it, put it on a USB and then put it on a TV - a bit too much effort for most. There's no easy solution that I know of outside of an app that'll do it for you.

I've just googled it and have you tried this? http://www.imediashare.tv/the-on-demand-app? Apparently, the free lite version should work ok

Personally, I reckon Bert's family have dodged a bullet here so hats off to Apple.

The scene is Bert's living room. He is surrounded by his extended family as well as his next door neighbours both left and right.

Bert: "Ok, everyone, that's right settle down now. Ok, shushy shush.
So, on the screen now; this was my very first post on the forum, which whilst perhaps little naive especially when compared to what you'll read much later tonight, still I think you'd agree exhibits my trademark style of wit and irony.
Now the next one is my favourite from Spring 2008. Cooder had started a thread about technology, although the forum being the forum, the thread wasn't actually called that. Anyway, I digress, Bastard (who incidentally I has the pleasure of educating. A vile little oik he was too. Still is come to that.) had replied with his usual insolent way so quick as a flash I interjected with my post that you can see on screen now........."

For the record I did not teach Bastard.
When the m65was being built some 20 feet from my classroom in 1995 the school agreed with the construction company that they would monitor the noise in the classrooms if it got too bad. Every time we complained they would send a junior engineer with a noise meter. He always appeared at lunchtime when the digger drivers were all in the pub or eating corned beef sandwiches.
He always said that there was no noise and what noise there was was being made by the children .
After a year of watching my windows vibrate and of having a permanent headache I decided to take early retirement and continue with my ruined life.
many years later I was in conversation at a forum meet with Bastard and discovered that he was that junior engineer.
